I nod and smile.
“Oh yes I do. And I think the clubhouse needs some balloons. We could even have balloon fights or some sort of contest with them.”
I turn when I hear a halo and turn to see our friend and sister Fifi.
“Hi Fifi. It’s good to see you. How are you?”September 9, 2018 at 12:32 am #26342PinkballoonParticipant
“Great, I’ll do what I can,” I giggle before turning after I hear someone new, “Hi, Fortuna, or Lady Luck,” I giggle, “Or have we met? Lacy’s been a bit crazy lately.”October 1, 2018 at 10:37 pm #30966
While Jacqueline was talking to Joe Porter in the Steel Horse, I could see that everything was in hand there, so took the chance to slip away and investigate the Clubhouse which I had heard was reopened in the new premises.
It’s a bit quieter than in the old days, but I can see Fifi and Fortuna, with her balloons, are both there.
“Hello, there. Remember me?”

I look at the date on my phone and remember something. A very special something for me.
“Free drinks everyone!!! Today I celebrate the 10th anniversary of my arriving at the Lacy Place. That is a very long time for someone with the attention span of a toddler. Giggle. I measured my participation in other groups and forums by the week or the month. 10 years is beyond comprehension.”
“When the old site closed some years back, I considered writing my end by accidentally being in the rubble of the demolition, far below the known hotel and casino. Far below the laundry and the disciplinary cells. But whether I was correct or delusional, (giggle) I felt needed on the new Lacy. At least long enough to help get it up and running.”
“Then, when the new LiL site closed, I again felt a strong urge to drift away. Become an ‘Unknown Legend in my time’ as Neil Young put it. (yes, that’s me in that song, I bet you didn’t know that) 😉 But out of the blue I got an invitation to test and comment on this new version of LiL. And how could I refuse?”
“So here we are. Together after all these years.”
“I hold up my glass to each of my friends, old and new, who are here. And to the many, very special friends in the past who have moved on. And to Melissa and Renee who have provided all this. Thank you all for the memories. And the fun.”

“Congratulations, Jacqueline. Ten years… I am not that far behind you, but yes, to all our friends old and new, and to Melissa and Renee!” I raise my glass to hers.
OOC Although whenever anybody mentions Neil Young, I think of the worst ever manager of my football club, who had the same name!October 3, 2018 at 11:31 pm #31563
“Thank you Mechelle. Yes, you’ve also been here, and active for a long time. And I’m happy to have had you for a very good friend for all that time.”
OOC: That’s funny.October 11, 2018 at 2:41 am #33407
Later I enter the clubhouse with my new friend Trixie. I explained the sisterhood to her and she asked me to bring her here to our clubhouse.
“Everyone, I’d like to introduce my friend Trixie.”October 11, 2018 at 2:50 am #33410TrixieParticipant
“Hello everyone I’m Trixie and I’m so happy to be you all.”

“Welcome to our Clubhouse, Trixie. I am very pleased to meet you. My name’s Mechelle,” I say with a hug for our new friend.October 23, 2018 at 7:00 am #36255VeronicaParticipant
I trudge in through the door, bedraggled and exhausted. Blurrily I look around the room, then step back out the door to check the name again. Same name; must be the right place. Pushing back through, I glimpse the old roster to one side on a stand. Yep, this is it. I shuffle-limp across the floor, the broken heel on one shoe making a cringe-worthy grating sound with each step, and finally collapse onto the nearest couch. As my eyes slip closed, I mumble out
Hey sisters, I’m home … sort of.
OOC – Hello all, it’s been a while. I’m not exactly certain who is in the room. Jacqs, has it really been 10 years? I thought that you had been here for ages when I first met you in the old bar. Congratulations Sis. Also, is there some way to add a signature to these posts?October 23, 2018 at 8:15 am #36269
“Hello, Roni and welcome to our new clubhouse.” I embrace our old friend.
OOC Not sure, I am afraid.October 23, 2018 at 3:17 pm #36352
I hear a familiar voice and when I take a peek I break into a huge grin. I hurry over to greet our friend after Mechelle.
I share the next hug.
“It’s so good to see you Sis. It’s been to long. Welcome home.”
“Everone,” I address the others. “This is our long time Sister Veronica. Please welcome her back.”
OOC: Signatures where causing problems so the option has been mostly eliminated. I had one for a while but with no one else having one, I finally figured out how to get rid of it. Yes, it has been 10 years this month for me.October 24, 2018 at 3:38 am #36497VeronicaParticipant
I startle awake and find myself staring up into beautiful eyes. I smile at the lovely woman and return her embrace.
“Hey Mechelle, I just knew you would be here.”
I flip my legs around to the front of the couch and push myself upright. As I roll my shoulders and stretch my arms out overhead, my joints crack and pop softly. I speak as I tilt my head from one side to the other.
“Thanks for the welcome, the place looks great. You girls must have been working for months getting into shape.
A familiar voice echoes across the room.
“It’s so good to see you Sis. It’s been to long. Welcome home.”
I smile and look around.
I stand up too quickly, giving a small gasp as sore muscles lodge their complaints, kick off my shoes and pad over toward my big sis.
“It has been way too long, hasn’t it? “
I walk into Jacq’s open arms, give her a firm embrace, and then stand back, holding her out at arm’s length while I look her up and down.
“And you haven’t changed an iota. How do you manage that? I swear to god, the rest of us will be shuffling around this place on walkers while you initiate the 2050 cohort.”
“Anyway, I seem to get lost every time they do one of these damn remodels. This time, my key card stopped working and security gave my identity to someone else. I had to scream bloody murder and even threatened to find Miss Kensington before they fixed it … although … they seemed not to recognize her name.
Cocking my head to one side,
Have they changed the head of security as well?”
OOC: Thanks Mechelle, Jacqueline … I guess that is one less thing to figure out. Overall the set up seems pretty intuitive. Although the system keeps generating HTML code when I submit my posts … any idea what that is about?October 24, 2018 at 9:27 am #36522
“Probably, as I haven’t seen Miss Kensington for a while, but I am not sure who’s who here, if you know what I mean.”
OOC I get that too, and I think others must as well, looking at the number of posts which I see are edited.October 24, 2018 at 2:40 pm #36577
“Miss Kensington has been missing for quite a while now. So has Patsy. I miss them both very much. Miss Kensington told me at the last place that she just couldn’t figure things out and left. I offered to help but, never heard from her again.”
“Thanks Sis, I try to stay in shape. I’m having to much fun to be sent to the laundry room with the other old ladies. Giggle.”
OOC: I’ve seen the HTML code problem but haven’t experienced it myself. I’ve tried to replicate it but have had no luck. Maybe you can write it up in a bug report. Here is something I send to new players when they ask about the new workings. I’ll put it here in case others might benefit.
This site is different than the old site but once you get the hang of it, it’s very nice.
The structure of the site is arranged in groups and topics. M&R (the Corporation) has it’s own section called ‘Role Playing’ in the main menu. The site has what are called groups. The Lacy Place is a group. So is the Front Desk of the Lacy Place for getting started. Groups can be found by clicking Community and then Groups. Inside a group we see a menu item called ‘Forum’ clicking that will show the ‘Topics’ of the group. Topics are like threads.
Anyone can start a group or a topic inside a group if it’s public. We can mark topics with ‘favorite’ and or ‘subscribe’ to them. We can subscribe to groups by clicking forum on the group’s home page. We then see the “Subscribe” option for the group.
Clicking our own avatar on the top menu shows us a personal menu. On that menu we find our profile, our settings, notifications, messages, groups, and forums. And other things. Clicking “Forums” on our menu will show topics we are active in. I use the “Subscribed” section to see all the topics and groups I am subscribed to.
On the top menu we also have live notifications of things we are involved in, and live messages for messages we have received. The easiest and best method I’ve found for keeping track of what I’m involved in is to use the email notifications. I then have a nice list of any messages and any new posts in my topics. And the email notification link will take you directly to the post, not the top of the topic.
I hope this helps. If you have questions, just PM me and I’ll help. Or see the “Need Help” topic in the main menu for asking questions.

I walk into a seemingly familiar place. It still contains all of the grandure of the clubhouse that I remember. but it seems quieter, cozier. Feeling a little too shy to call out to anyone. I simply look around seeing if there’s anyone I recognize, and slowly make my way to the couch.
